Latest CS:GO Update Brings New Visuals to Aid Teamwork

Yes, you heard correctly, a new game-changing feature has been added to CS:GO in the recent Update (though oddly it wasnt explained in the actual patchnotes). Here’s how you can use it to increase your vision and teamwork and ultimately improve your game.

It’s a simple command that lets you completely change your game and, to be honest, I have no idea why this was not originally in the game. You can bind the key to show your teammates by using the following command:

First, you will need to open console (`~ button) and then enter “cl_teamid_overhead_always 1” and then enter “+cl_show_team_equipment” make sure that you include the ‘+’ sign otherwise it won’t work.

The above command lets you have an always on vision of your teammates and equipment. If you wish to have a key that you hold to show the information, you can use the bind below.

bind “BUTTONHERE” “show”
alias show show1
alias show1 “+cl_show_team_equipment; alias show show2”
alias show2 “-cl_show_team_equipment; alias show show1”

So why is this such a game changer? Well, first off, the radar is not the best thing to keep your eyes on. Often you find yourselves looking at the radar (minimap) and get shot in the face and, you are not alone with that. This new feature allows you to see your teammates position and utility without having to draw your eyes away from the action and providing crucial information while also helping prevent cluttered comms with useless information.

Highly skilled players in a cooperative team will easily be able to understand what is going on, without the need to scream. For example, if an awper wants to peek A main on de_cache a teammate will easily see his position and know what play he is making (although, there should always be communication for aggression like that).

This is especially handy for maps like de_nuke where there are multiple vertical positions. Not to mention that this will aid in the use of utility, since your teammate can “call for a flash” without having to ask if you have one.
